1.3. Before going to a way

Observance of the simple rules given below at the initial stage of operation of the new car (during the several first hundreds of kilometers of a run) will promote good extra earnings of details and will provide further the high level of operational properties, including profitability, reliability and durability of the car (fig. 1.1).
• Do not operate the engine with a high frequency of rotation of a bent shaft.
• In due time switch transfers in the transmission, trying not to overload the engine with a low frequency of rotation of a bent shaft.

• Avoid braking with limit delay, certainly, except those dangerous cases which really demand emergency brake application (fig. 1.2). It will provide good to extra earnings and will increase service life of brake shoes.
• Do not disperse with limit acceleration at full supply of fuel in engine cylinders.

Control survey of the car before a trip
• Be convinced of purity and serviceability wind, back and side glasses, external rear-view mirrors, lenses of headlights and lamps.
• Visually check pressure in tires.
• Check serviceability of all devices of external lighting and the light alarm system.
• Check whether the platform behind the car is free if you intend to move a backing.
• Check existence of the oil, fuel and other spots under the car demonstrating leak of operational liquids.

Preparation for the movement
• Adjust the provision of sitting.
• Adjust provisions of external mirrors and an internal rear-view mirror.
• Check that all passengers were fastened by seat belts.
• Check serviceability of control lamps and indexes in a combination of devices, previously having turned a key in the ignition lock in situation "II".
• Check serviceability and indications of arrow indexes in a combination of devices.
• Switch off the parking brake and be convinced that the corresponding control lamp went out.
• You have to be sure that you rather well know the device of your car and its equipment. You have to have also steady practical skills of safe driving.

       PREVENTION
The owner of the car has to check periodically serviceability of all devices of external lighting and the alarm system, and also the indicators located in a combination of devices. The found malfunctions should be eliminated immediately. Constant support of operability of control and signaling devices promotes safety for you and your passengers, as well as for other participants of traffic.

Keys

The car is completed with two keys which approach all locks (fig. 1.3). It is recommended to store one of keys as spare.
Number of keys is stamped on a plate which is attached to a bunch of keys. For a reason of safety it is recommended to remove a plate from keys and to store it in the safe place, but not in the car. You also should write down number of keys and to store it in the place, inaccessible for strangers (out of the car). This precautionary measure will not allow to receive twirls from your car illegally.

The cars equipped with Daewoo immobilizer are completed with two keys with the built-in code device (fig. 1.4). These keys approach all locks of the car.
It is recommended to store one of keys as spare.
Number of keys is stamped on a plate which is attached to a bunch of keys. For reasons of safety it is recommended to remove a plate from keys and to store it in the safe place, but not in the car. You also should write down number of keys and to store it in the place, inaccessible for strangers (out of the car). If additional copies of keys are necessary for you, you can receive them at the dealer of Daewoo. The maximum quantity of twirls – three.

       NOTE
In case of loss of keys new keys can be received, having addressed the dealer of Daewoo, having told him number of keys from your car. For prevention of stealing the car is equipped with an electronic immobilizer. Launch of the engine is possible only a key with the corresponding individual code of an immobilizer. Even if the key has a suitable profile of a small beard, the engine will not be launched at discrepancy of a code of an electronic immobilizer. Spare keys with the code device should be ordered only from the dealer of Daewoo.


       PREVENTION
Take out a key from the ignition lock before leaving the car.

Locks of doors
Forward doors can be unlocked or locked outside by means of a key.

To unlock the door lock, turn a key clockwise (fig. 1.5). Locks of all doors can be blocked or unblocked from within the car when pressing down or a pulling of the buttons located on each door up.

Locks of all doors (except driver's) can be blocked outside. For this purpose it is necessary to press and lower the button of blocking of the lock on an open door, and then to slam a door (fig. 1.6). The locking button on a door of the driver cannot be lowered at an open door. It is a precautionary measure against casual locking outside of all doors of the car. However the locking button on an open door of the driver can be lowered if at the same time to lift the external handle of a door. If necessary to lock a driver's door without key lower the button and slam a door, at the same time holding the door handle in the lifted situation.

       PREVENTION
Be circumspect not to leave keys in the locked car.

The central lock becomes more active, locking or unlocking locks of all doors, during the pressing or a pulling of the button located on the driver's door and also at turn against the stop of the key inserted into the lock of a door of the driver (fig. 1.9) up.


       NOTE
Leaving the car unguarded, take out a key from the lock of ignition and lock all doors.

Blocking of locks from children
Blocking makes impossible opening of back doors from within the car. The metal latch of blocking is located at an end face of each back door below the lock (fig. 1.9). Blocking of the lock joins in the top provision of a latch. When blocking locks from children an opportunity to open a door by means of the external handle remains (if at the same time the internal locking button is not pressed).

Take away a luggage carrier lock cover, insert a key into the lock and turn it clockwise (fig. 1.11). To close a luggage carrier, lower a cover and press it from above. After that be convinced that the lock was closed.

       NOTE
In order to avoid hit it is not necessary to go to interior of the car of the toxic fulfilled gases of the engine with an open trunk lid.

Power windows

Control of power windows is exercised by means of the switches located on an armrest of a door of the driver (fig. 1.12). Window regulators work if the ignition key is turned in situation "II". When pressing the button of blocking of management flew down -
elevators all switches located on both back and the right lobby doors become inactive. However at the same time an opportunity for the driver to operate work of all window regulators by means of the switches located on his armrest remains. When pressing the left side of the switch of blocking of locks of doors there is a simultaneous blocking of all door locks. The return unblocking of door locks is carried out by pressing the right side of the switch.

On an armrest of each door of the passenger the switch of management of a window regulator (fig. 1.13) is installed. For rise or lowering of glass press, respectively, the top or lower part of the switch and hold it in the pressed situation. When glass reaches desirable position, release the switch.
If the button of blocking of management of window regulators located on an armrest of a door of the driver is pressed, lowering and raising of glasses of passenger doors are possible only from a driver's seat.

       PREVENTION
During the operation of power windows it is necessary to show care as traumatizing is possible, especially children, also jamming of clothes glass is possible. Make sure that all passengers are able to use power windows correctly. If on a back seat there are children, block switches of window regulators of back doors by means of the button of the blocking located on an armrest of a door of the driver. Be attentive when raising glasses. You watch that to jam nothing glass. Going out of the car, take out a key from the ignition lock to switch-off power windows and to avoid casual traumatizing the passengers who remained in the car.
Never put out from an open window of a hand and other parts of a body.

Adjustment of provision of a steering wheel
The steering wheel can occupy one of five or four provisions (if in a nave of a steering wheel the inflatable safety cushion is established).

To adjust the provision of a steering wheel, pull on yourself the lever located on the left side of a steering column rearrange a steering wheel in desirable situation and then release the lever (fig. 1.14). For simplification of landing to the driver's place follows before an exit from the car to rearrange a steering wheel in extreme top situation.


       PREVENTION
In order to avoid loss of management it is forbidden to make adjustment of a steering wheel on the run of the car.

Internal rear-view mirror

The rear-view mirror can be adjusted both in vertical, and in the horizontal plane for providing the good review behind. Two provisions of a mirror are provided: for the movement day and night (fig. 1.15).
At the movement in night-time the internal rear-view mirror can be established in "night" situation for reduction of the blinding action of the headlights moving behind cars. For this purpose turn the handle to the right.
Have no large objects on the shelf behind a back of a back seat as they can reduce a review zone through a rear-view mirror and to become a cause of accident.

       PREVENTION
Adjustment of a rear-view mirror should be made only in "day" situation. Use the "night" provision of a mirror only for reduction of the blinding action of headlights of the cars moving behind. It must be kept in mind that in the "night" provision of a mirror you can not see some objects which would be in the field of your sight in the "day" provision of a mirror.

External rear-view mirrors

By means of switches of adjustment of external rear-view mirrors establish mirrors in such situation that you could see not only the right and left lane, but also both boards of the car. It helps to estimate more precisely visually relative distances to other cars observed through rear-view mirrors (fig. 1.16).

External mirrors can be put to body sidewalls for simplification of journey through narrow passes or at the mechanized wash of the car. To put mirrors, turn them on an arrow, as shown in the figure 1.17 back.
The right external rear-view mirror – spherical. In a spherical mirror observed objects seem farther, than they are actually. Use a spherical mirror for receiving a wide zone of the review behind the car.

       PREVENTION
Be attentive when you estimate relative distance to the moving car or any motionless object by means of a spherical rear-view mirror. It must be kept in mind that the spherical mirror reduces the sizes of observed objects in comparison with a usual flat mirror and gives illusion considerably of bigger removal of an object, than it is actually.

Use an internal rear-view mirror for exact assessment of the sizes and distances to the objects observed in a spherical mirror.
Do not scratch out ice from a mirror surface. It can lead to damage of a mirror. If the mirror cannot move because of the frozen ice, it is not necessary to use great efforts to a mirror.
For removal of ice it is necessary to use special means for defrosting (for example, in aerosol package), a sponge or soft fabric. Before to begin the movement, be convinced that rear-view mirrors are correctly adjusted.

2. Four-running regulator of external rear-view mirrors. To adjust the provision of a rear-view mirror, it is necessary to include ignition.
Longitudinal adjustment of forward sitting

To adjust the longitudinal provision of forward sitting, press up the lever of a clamp and, holding it, shift sitting in desirable situation (fig. 1.19). The lever is located in front from below sitting. After the end of adjustment release the lever for sitting fixing.

       PREVENTION
It is forbidden to regulate the provision of sitting of the driver on the run of the car in order to avoid loss of management and creation of an emergency.
After adjustment try to move a seat forward and back to check reliability of fixing of a seat. Before a start of motion be convinced that the seat of the driver is adjusted correctly.
In order to avoid excessive weakening of a prileganiye to a seat belt body (that reduces efficiency of application of belts) it is necessary to adjust at first the provision of a seat, and then to fasten a seat belt. Do not put under front seats of a rag or rags which can get to the mechanism of fixing of a seat or to the seats directing longitudinal adjustment.

Adjustment of an inclination of a back of a front seat

Having lifted the back clamp lever located sideways seats, establish a back in required position on a tilt angle (fig. 1.20). Then release the lever for fixing of a back.

       PREVENTION
During the movement of the car of a seatback have to be in the lifted situation. Otherwise efficiency of seat belts will decrease. The design of seat belts provides the best protection if seatbacks are completely in the lifted situation. Before a start of motion of the car it is necessary to be convinced that seatbacks are adjusted correctly.

Adjustment of a seat of the driver on height

For adjustment of a driver's seat on height turn the handle located under sitting (fig. 1.21).

Head restraints
Head restraints are intended for reduction of risk of injury of a neck at blow of the car behind.

To adjust a head restraint on height, pull it up or press it down. To dismantle a head restraint from a seatback, completely lift it up, at the same time pressing the clamp button. The button is located on the left guide of the probe of a head restraint (fig. 1.22).

       PREVENTION
The head restraint has to be established so that its top was as it is possible closer to the upper edge of an ear. After adjustment check reliability of fixing of a head restraint. Do not operate the car with the removed head restraints.

Armrest of back sitting

The armrest which is thrown back down is located in the center of a back of a back seat (fig. 1.23).

Seat belts
For protection of the driver and passengers at accident it is necessary to use seat belts surely. Belts have to be correctly adjusted and buttoned.
The passengers going on a back seat and who are not fastened by seat belts in case of the road accident constitute danger to the driver and the forward passenger. Seat belts are intended for individual application and can be used only by one person at the same time. Usual seat belts are not suitable for children is younger than six years. For safety of small children use special removable children's seats and pillows.

       PREVENTION
Pregnant women have to be especially attentive to the correct situation concerning a body of humeral and zone branches of a belt if at all application of a belt is possible. It will allow to reduce probability of traumatizing both the woman, and a fruit. During all term of pregnancy it is necessary to have a zone branch of a seat belt, it is how possible below.

       NOTE
If the seat belt was blocked at its pulling from the inertial coil, it is necessary to release a belt completely back, then again to try to extend smoothly a belt at the necessary length

       PREVENTION
For reduction of risk of traumatizing at the road accidents or unexpected maneuvers of the car observe the instructions for use and care of seat belts, and also for application of special security aids given below for children. In transit in the car of small children it is always necessary to use corresponding to age and body weight of the child of an instrument for ensuring of safety (see information on plates of security aids). As the statistics of the road accidents testifies, traumatism is less if children settle down on back, but not on forward sitting. According to these data the children's seat should be fixed only on a back seat. Children who cannot use special children's seats any more have to settle down on a back seat and be fastened by seat belts. If the place where the child sits, is equipped with a belt with a humeral branch, and the last settles down too close to a face or a neck, it is necessary to replace the child closer to the center of the car or to other place which is equipped only with a zone seat belt.

       PREVENTION
Check that the bracket of each belt was inserted into the corresponding buckle. Buckles of belts on a back seat can be mixed. Do not fasten a belt so that its branches passed over the firm or fragile objects located in pockets or on clothes. At failure of the car such objects as the glass glasses writing handles, etc. can become the trauma reason. It is forbidden to pass a humeral branch of a belt under the hand located from a door. Check that the humeral branch of a belt settled down in the middle of a shoulder, but not on a neck at all. Check that the zone belt densely lay on hips, but not on a waist. It is forbidden to fasten one belt more than one person. Do not allow children to stand on the feet or on a lap on a seat. It is forbidden to hold children on hands during the movement of the car. It is forbidden to use seat belts which have damages from jamming by a door or mechanisms of a seat.
It is forbidden to use the twisted belt or to turn a buckle the button down or to itself.
It is forbidden to place any foreign objects in a cut of the panel of an upholstery of salon in which the seat belt at a pulling and retraction moves. It can block the inertial coil of a belt or damage a belt.
Seat belts provide the best protection if seatbacks are in completely lifted situation. At a big tilt angle of a seatback the probability that the passenger will slip out from under a belt increases, especially at front blow of the car, and it will be injured by a belt or the forward panel of salon. Any changes of a design of seat belts and inertial coils are forbidden, in particular, any modernization of the mechanism of maintenance of a constant tension and the choice of sagging of a belt is forbidden. For ensuring effective protection the seat belt has to be adjusted so that it as it is possible more densely adjoined to a body. Degree of a tension of a belt has to be coordinated with convenience of landing. Considerable sagging of a belt strongly reduces its efficiency as means of passive protection at the road accident.
It is necessary to avoid hit on seat belts of the polishing structures, oils and other chemicals, especially accumulator acid. It is possible to apply water solution of soft soap to cleaning of belts. The belt has to be replaced in the presence of wear tracks, hit with it aggressive substances or at damage. Periodically check a condition of seat belts and their mechanisms for existence of wear tracks and damages. It is necessary to replace all set of seat belts after the serious road accident when belts experienced considerable strain. It is expedient to make it of safety reasons even if belts and other knots have no visible damages.

Seat belts with three-point fastening
All cars of the Daewoo brand are equipped with inertial belts with 3-pointed fastening. Inertial belts practically do not limit freedom of movement of the passengers and the driver who are on seats if the car moves in the usual operational modes and does not experience sharp delay. The inertial coil provides a preliminary tension of a belt and its dense prileganiye to a body, automatically choosing sagging of a belt. Inertial seat belts do not need adjustment of length. After fastening the belt is automatically extended from the coil or reeled up on it, monitoring smooth movements of the passenger or driver. However at front blow, sharp delay of the car or a bystry pulling of a branch of a belt the coil is automatically blocked, and the belt holds a body of the person from dangerous movements.

If the car is equipped with seat belts with the intermediate bracket regulated on height, it is necessary to extend a belt, to press the bracket case, as shown in the figure 1.24 and to move a bracket to required position. Convenience of landing can worsen too high position of an intermediate bracket.

       PREVENTION
The humeral branch of a belt has to settle down on a shoulder, it is possible closer to a neck, but not on a neck or on a hand at all. The wrong provision of a belt reduces its efficiency as means of ensuring of passive safety at the road accident and increases probability of traumatizing.

Use of seat belts

Smoothly extend a seat belt from the inertial coil and, having surrounded themselves across with a belt, check that the belt was not overwound. Insert a metal locking bracket of 1 (fig. 1.25) of a belt into a buckle 2.

To unfasten a seat belt, press the red button located on the case of a buckle (fig. 1.26). After release of a locking bracket the belt will automatically be reeled up on the inertial coil.

       NOTE
If the seat belt was blocked at its pulling from the inertial coil, it is necessary to release a belt completely back, then again to try to extend smoothly a belt at the necessary length.

       PREVENTION
At the correct provision of a seat belt both hands cannot settle down at the same time from above or from below a belt. One hand has to be under, and another over a seat belt. Do not pass a humeral branch of a belt under a hand. Check that the humeral branch of a belt lay in the middle of a shoulder and not on a neck at all. The zone branch of a belt has to cover densely hips, but not a waist.

The zone seat belt is provided for the average passenger on back sitting. Insert a metal locking bracket into a buckle before click (fig. 1.27).

To extend a belt, extend it at the necessary length, holding a bracket at right angle to a tape of a belt (fig. 1.28). For reduction of length of a belt extend the free end of a belt from a bracket. Then move a clip on a belt to eliminate sagging of the free end of a belt.
The zone seat belt has to lie on hips. To unfasten a seat belt, press the red button located on the buckle case.

       PREVENTION
The zone seat belt never has to lie on a stomach. At the road accident the belt can render big load of the bodies which are in an abdominal cavity and to injure them. Check that the zone belt densely adjoined to hips, but not to a waist.

The warning sound signal of not fastened seat belt
If the seat belt of the driver is not fastened properly and the ignition key is turned in situation "II", the melodious sound signal which sounds during 4–6 pages joins.

Care of seat belts
You watch that seat belts were always dry and pure. For cleaning of belts use soft soap solution and slightly warm water. It is forbidden to use the bleaching substances and dyes as it can lead to loss of durability of material of belts. Check belts for existence of traces of damages or a mastication about sharp edges of any objects. It is necessary to check periodically a condition of all knots of system of seat belts and to replace faulty details. Belts which experienced big strain at the road accident have to be replaced by new.

       PREVENTION
All knots and details of system of seat belts, including inertial coils and fixture, have to be checked after any road accident. It is recommended to replace all sets of belts which fastened the driver and passengers during accident. An exception are cases of minor accidents when on belts there are no visible traces of damages, and they continue to work normally. Seat belts which were not used at the time of accident also have to be checked and replaced in case of existence of damages or violation of normal functioning of mechanisms.

Safety controls for children

Installation of safety controls for children
The design of your car provides a possibility of installation of means of ensuring of passive safety of children on back sitting. Before installation of the safety control for the child attentively read the instruction of the manufacturer which is attached to a product. It is necessary to carry out all instructions of the instruction carefully. If at installation of the safety control you had any questions, address the dealer or on the service station Daewoo.

Arrangement of fixing nests
Three options of an arrangement of fixing nests according to number of seats are provided. Apply to fastening of children's safety controls only the ordered bolts (5/16’’). The fixing bolt has to be screwed up in a carving nest at least on 5 whole revolutions.

Fixing nests are located in the middle and on both sides on the luggage shelf behind a back of a back seat (fig. 1.29). Nests represent the nuts welded from below on foundation of the shelf. In usual situation fixing nests are closed by a rug.

       PREVENTION
Babies and small children have to be transported in the car only with use of appropriate means of safety. Check that the safety control used by you for the child met requirements of the corresponding standards. Study and carry out all instructions of the manufacturer of a product. The safety control for transportation of the child has to be installed on a back seat.

If the safety control any time is not used, remove it or fix by a seat belt in order to avoid dangerous movements on interior of the car at sharp braking or the road accident.
Anyway the fixing bolt has to be screwed in a carving nest not less than on 5 whole revolutions. The child can be traumatized at the road accident if the children's safety control was not fixed properly. Fixing nests are calculated on perception of loadings from the children's safety controls installed properly. It is forbidden to use these fixing nests for fastening of seat belts of adult passengers or installation of any other equipment.
If the fixing bolt is turned out from a carving nest, it is necessary to establish instead of it other bolt of the similar size to exclude a possibility of hit in salon of the fulfilled engine gases.

Inflatable safety cushion of the driver *

The inflatable pillow is located under an overlay of a nave of a steering wheel (fig. 1.30).
The inflatable pillow is an additional tool of safety which protects the head and a thorax of the driver from traumatizing at the road accident.

The inflatable pillow is put in action in case of strong front blow of the car or if the direction of blow does not go beyond a corner of 30 degrees from the longitudinal plane of the car (fig. 1.31).

The pillow is inflated through several ms (milliseconds) after blow, providing protection of the driver against traumatizing about a steering wheel (fig. 1.32).
After operation the pillow is instantly blown off, without breaking thereby a possibility of the review for the driver and keeping a possibility of driving.
As the speed of inflation of a pillow is big, the correct adjustment of a seat and back is of great importance for its effective action. The seat has to be adjusted so that the driver reached a steering wheel the hands which are slightly bent in elbows. Operation of an inflatable pillow is followed by noisy cotton and an exit of a small amount of the gas similar to smoke. Gas is harmless and is not a burning sign.

       PREVENTION
The inflatable pillow does not work at blow behind, sideways, when capsizing the car or at light front blow. Therefore seat belts have to be always fastened. The inflatable pillow cannot replace seat belts and only supplements them. It is forbidden to attach something to an overlay of a nave of a steering wheel as it can lead to traumatizing at operation of an inflatable pillow. It is forbidden to make any alterations of details and knots of system of a safety cushion. At maloperation with elements of system of a safety cushion the last can unexpectedly work.
Dismantle of a steering wheel and the control panel has to be made only by personnel of the dealer of Daewoo or at the station of service network Daewoo. The inflatable pillow is the device of one-time action. After operation of a pillow it needs to be replaced with new. For this purpose it is necessary to address the dealer of Daewoo or on the station of service network Daewoo.
Repair of a steering wheel, steering column and inflatable pillow has to be made only by personnel of the dealer of Daewoo or at the station of service network Daewoo. As a result of inadvertent inclusion in action of an inflatable pillow traumatizing personnel is possible.
It is not necessary to attach foreign objects to a steering wheel and the control panel or to cover them with any slips. Wipe them with dry or damp fabric. It is forbidden to apply any aggressive cleaners to this chain.
Dismantle of system of an inflatable pillow and its further utilization have to be made only by personnel of the dealer of Daewoo or at the station of service network Daewoo.
The inflatable pillow is an additional tool of passive safety and is not intended for replacement of seat belts. During the movement of the car seat belts have to be always fastened, and between a body of the driver and a steering wheel there has to be a sufficient distance.

1. Extend the button of blocking of door locks located on a door of the driver (fig. 1.33) up.

2. Switch off the engine. Press edge of the hatch which closes a mouth of the fuel tank to open its (fig. 1.34).

3. Turn off a cover of a bulk mouth of the fuel tank, rotating it counterclockwise (fig. 1.35).

       PREVENTION
The fuel tank can be under excessive pressure. At sharp opening of a cover of a bulk mouth gasoline can be splashed out from a tank and get into eyes, a face or on other open parts of the body. It is necessary to uncover a tank slowly and carefully. Having partially turned off a tank cover, wait for the termination of an exit of vapors of gasoline which are followed by the characteristic hissing sound. After that uncover a bulk mouth of a tank. Vapors of gasoline are extremely flammable. When filling the fuel tank it is always necessary to switch off the engine and to avoid to bring the sparking objects, an open flame or the lit cigarettes to an open mouth of a tank or container with gasoline.
